Coming out of a wonderful Christmas season, I'm reflecting on the many ways our parish is growing in membership and activities, and I wanted to share an update with you. I've been working with parish council to address more of the things you asked me to focus on during my first six months. Starting last weekend, we reinstated the active roles of Greeter, Gift Bearer, and Eucharistic Minister. To help coordinate these volunteer activities, we've formed a Liturgy & Spiritual Life work team, which will be led by Gus Gamils. We've also formed a work team for Vocations, led by Tani and Jack Hobson, and a Buildings & Grounds work team, led by John McGeary. Next, work teams will be formed for Volunteerism & Evangelization and RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults), which will put us in a good position to manage our growth. In February, I will learn about the initial results of the Diocesan survey, and will share key points with you.
I've also been enjoying visiting many of your homes to perform house blessings -- we've had an overwhelming response for this, and we'll do another round in June and July. From now until Summer, I will be visiting the shut-in and homebound of our community. Please call the parish office if there is anyone you would like me to visit. On Saturday, April 19 at 9 PM, we'll have an Easter Vigil Mass and welcome any new adult members into our parish. This summer, we will also bring together our parish volunteers for celebratory kickoff as we prepare for the summer picnic and other evangelization activity. Many exciting things are in the works for our little parish in the valley. I look forward to working closer with each of you as we serve our community.
