ALL SOULS’ DAY TRADITIONS Though death physically separates us from our loved ones, their memory and our love for them endure. We continuously find ways to honor the deceased long after they are gone. Each year, the Catholic Church dedicates a special feast, ALL SOULS’ DAY, to remember and pray for all the faithful departed.
This year our parish will initiate new traditions. We will invite family members, of the deceased of this past year, to carry a candle, bearing the name of their loved one, in the Offertory procession. At the end of mass, the candle will be theirs to take home. There will be a Table of Remembrance on which you are invited to place framed pictures of your loved ones. In addition to the All Souls’ Day Envelopes being placed on the altar, we will also have on display a Book of the Deceased in which you are encouraged to write the names of your loved ones who will be remembered in our daily masses throughout the month of November.
May the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace.
